2013 GOLDEN GOOSE AWARD RECIPIENT NAMED

The Golden Goose Award, created in 2012 with help from a Richard Lounsbery Foundation grant, seeks to highlight and “celebrate researchers whose seemingly odd or obscure federally funded research turned out to have a significant, positive impact on society.” The recipient of the 2013 Golden Goose Award is Dr. John Eng, who’s Federally-funded research of poisonous Gila monster venom led directly to the creation of a drug that protects diabetic patients from common complications from diabetes such as blindness, kidney failure, and nerve damage.
